This is the latest edition of our irregular newsletter to our email list. To subscribe, please click here.

We are just about to embark on the second leg of our UK spring tour and will be boldly going to many towns and cities we’ve never been to before. Unfortunately it is often tough to find an audience when we are new to a town, and so we are asking you to help us by spreading the word about The Magnets in one of the following ways.

TELL PEOPLE WE ARE GIVING AWAY FREE STUFF!

We needed an easy way for people to sample our music and recommend it to their friends, so we’ve set up a page where they can download some tracks for free and have a listen to others. Click here to visit it yourself, have a listen and download the tracks. Then we’d urge you to share the page with others on Facebook, or spread the link around to anyone you know who might like what we do.

We’ll also be using this page to premiere new tracks from our forthcoming album over the next few weeks. This will include some free downloads of our first original tracks for an age, so make sure you watch this space!

HELP FRASER GO VIRAL!

Going viral is a horrible term but a great concept, and these days in the music business getting a video that goes viral online is where it’s at. So having already turned himself into a master film maker by producing our new DVD, our bass singer Fraser has now set himself the task of becoming a YouTube sensation with a one-man version of ‘Mama do the Hump’ by the Rizzle Kicks.

Check it out here. It really is brilliant, all the more so because not only did he do all the singing and beatboxing on the track, he also produced it and shot the video all by himself. Such talent deserves AT LEAST a million hits on YouTube online don’t you think? So please enjoy the video, and then forward it on to all your pals and tell them to do the same, and tell them about The Magnets at the same time!

JOIN OUR ‘TOUR SUPPORT TEAM’

Having you on our mailing list is wonderful, but for those who would like to go one step further we’ve set up a new mailing list for anyone who would like to take a more active role in promoting The Magnets.

At its most basic we hope you will sign up if you’d like to receive posters or flyers to distribute when we are playing near you. However, we hope it will also develop into a collaborative forum where people feel free to contribute and develop their ideas about how we can build our audience in their locality.

The Magnets returned from Oz with a collective suntan and a cuttings book full of lovely REVIEWS, but barely time to wash our clothes (none in Andy’s case) before heading off to The Netherlands for our first ever Dutch tour. With the DVD out of the way, Fraser’s been occupying himself on the road with his camera taking these amazing shots of Andy and Nic. He promises more are to follow on FACEBOOK.

The theatres in Holland are incredible and the best equipped we’ve ever played in, from the massive auditoriums right down to the table tennis and football in many of the artist Green Rooms. We’ve also been privileged to receive standing ovations every night – but we’re told that the Dutch audience is rather easy rising, so we’re not resting on our laurels.

We’ve had a great time on our travels, but to be honest we’re looking forward to coming home BIG TIME. The Magnets have never done a Spring UK tour before, and it’s going to be great travelling around our Isle at this most green and pleasant time of year.

After the success of our last tour the theatres booking us are getting bigger, so we need YOUR SUPPORT more than ever. Dutch TV Debut!

The Magnets on KoffieMax

The Magnests are now daytime TV stars in Holland after appearing on KoffieMax  (click to check our our version on Rolling in the Deep) yesterday, and KoffieTijn today! If you saw us and want to know our dates in Holland, please visit our gigs page or see the posts further down this page.

We’re now ducking into Germany for a show at our old favourite stomping ground, the Pumpwerk in Wilhelmshaven. It’s a beautiful day, the traffic ain’t too bad, the boys are snoozing in the back of the bus and life on the road is good.

Guy lights Meppel!

We launched our Dutch tour in lovely Meppel last night and are now parked in the dramatically titled Theater de Storm in Winterswijk. It’s our first ever tour of this country and, if the standing ovation last night is anything to go by, it’s going to be a great one.

Our first appearance on Dutch TV will be on the highly caffinated KoffieMAX at 11am on 22nd March. Tune in wherever you are.

Hello from Australia!

We’re just having a break between shows on a 40 degree day here in Adelaide, where we have been playing at the Fringe Festival for a week, and thought it was about time we updated our website with our whereabouts.

India to Australia

What was supposed to be a serene passage to Australia was thrown into chaos by a last minute invitation to play our first ever shows in India on our way out. This was a wonderful opportunity but a logistical nightmare, which saw us on a crazy city-a-day schedule of London – Mumbai – Madras – Calcutta – Mumbai – Singapore – Sydney – Adelaide. We’ve now been in Adelelaide for 6 days, and are once again able to wake up without the first thought being ‘where the hell am I now?’.

We’re performing at 7pm here in Adelaide until the end of February, and the crowds are already proving extremely friendly and boisterous, which makes for some fun banter. Baking in the day, and humming with party atmosphere at night, the Gardens of Unearthly Delights (where we are playing, pictured right) are a wonderful cross between Glastonbury on a good weather year, and an exotic fun fair.

New DVD

Here’s your first glimpse of the artwork for our new live DVD, lovingly filmed and edited by Fraser over the course of our UK and German Autumn tours.

Featuring many of the songs from our current set, and vignettes of life on the road, it is a brilliant statement of where The Magnets are at right now. Check out the trailer here. It will be on sale at gigs and also online shortly.

The guys filmed their 2011 UK and German tours and have created a DVD that they are going to release to coincide with their Australian Tour in February 2012. You can buy the DVD at live shows throughout 2012. It will also be available online in the coming months.
